Yibin enjoys a manifold climate patterns ranging from southern subtropical to warm and humid climate, with mountains and rivers crisscrossed and areas covering 27¡ã50¡ä to 29¡ã16' north latitude and 130¡ã36¡ä to 105¡ã20¡ä east longitude. Yibin has an average annual temperature of 15¡æ to 18.3¡æ and an average annual rainfall of 1200mm. Its average annual relative humidity is 81 - 85% and its average annual sunshine time is 950 to 1180 hours. Yibin enjoys low temperature difference and high humidity. In Yibin, there are various types of soils, such as paddy soil, alluvial soil, purple soil, etc.. The soil is suitable for the growth of glutinous rice, paddy, corn, wheat, Chinese broomcorn, etc. that supply the main raw materials for brewing Wuliangye liquor.....

In particular, the glutinous broomcorn grown in the purple soil of Yibin contains amylopectin that is exclusively used for liquor brewing material for Wuliangye liquor. The weak acid iron clay used for cellar construction and spray painting is of stickiness and contains a variety of mineral substances such as phosphor, iron, nickel and cobalt. The two kinds of mineral substances nickel and cobalt could only be found in the culture earth of Wuliangye liquor in a trace quantity while the culture earth of other distilleries does not contain them. Such ecological environment is of great advantage to the growth of microbes in brewing. It is required that more than 150 kinds of microbes in the air and the soil involve in the fermentation for production of Wuliangye liquor, therefore natural ecological environment fit for the intergrowth and coexistence of the microbes is needed and available only from Yibin, the Number One City of Yangtze River Basin. Without such environment, Wuliangye will be not so luxuriant in flavors. It is the endowments by the nature that bring up the second-to-none favorable climate and geographical location of Yibin, which endows Wuliangye liquor with uniqueness.
